Moving Day

Moving aboard was an adventure in itself. It was largely an exercise in getting rid of our stuff. We had been downsizing over the past two years; the rental we moved out of was partially furnished, so we only had a desk, bed and two chairs. We spent June and July downsizing to the scant storage space available on a 38 foot boat: filling garbage bag after garbage bag, distributing items of value as “long term loans” to friends and family, donating to Good Will, taking pictures of objects that maintain sentimental value, and driving a car load of stuff to store up to Weaverville.

It was therapeutic to shed  our lesser-used possessions. As we continue to life our 9-5 lives, we haven’t missed anything
